About Africa Centre – Imvelo
Africa’s institution, born in South Africa, for the world.
Why we exist
Africa Centre – Imvelo exists to preserve, celebrate and share African histories, cultures, knowledge systems and futures through African voices. It responds to generations of distortion, omission and fragmentation by creating a dignified home for African memory and imagination.
Our mission
To build a trusted cultural and educational institution that connects people with Africa’s histories, living traditions, knowledge, landscapes and global diaspora.
Our vision
A world in which Africans and people of African descent can access their heritage with pride, confidence and context—and where the world encounters Africa through the depth, complexity and brilliance of African perspectives.
A living institution
Africa Centre will grow through scholarship, community contributions, oral histories, cultural archives, immersive experiences and partnerships across the continent and diaspora.
